Vitamin D plays a very important role in regulating our immune response. Low levels of this vitamin enable disease progression in the body while adequate levels not only decrease your risk of disease but also helps to fight off diseases already in place.
Vitamin D is also important for bone health. We can also attribute bone loss to reduced calcium absorption, and poor bone mineralization.
Our bodies can make Vitamin D naturally through sunlight but with the dangers of too much sun exposure I have included my recommendations for getting enough sun and not causing any other harm.
Now before you all go crazy I am not telling you to expose yourself to enough sunlight so you burn or get sun damage. I am merely telling you to get enough sunlight to allow your body to make Vitamin D.
How to get enough Vitamin D from the Sun.
So aim for 15 minutes at least two times a week. Make sure you expose your face, arms, hands and back. Also believe it or not the best time to expose your skin is between 10 am and 2 pm. Be careful to stay on the safe side of burning.
This vitamin is also important is it has many mood lifting benefits. It simply makes you feel better, be more productive at work and at play.
See I told you it was going to be out there. So take the time each day to enjoy the sun. I always feel so much better. It is like having a dose of happiness delivered right to your door.
